 Tree Description

Grand Fir

The Grand Fir just smells like Christmas.  It is the third most common Christmas species in Washington, accounting for about 10% of the annual production. This tree is a true fir, like noble fir, but it is cultured or shaped like Douglas-fir. The growth rate is between Douglas-fir and noble fir, taking about 6 to 8 years to bring a tree to market. Grand fir has an emerald green, glossy foliage.

Shasta Fir

This species makes an excellent Christmas tree. Its stiff, sturdy layered branches make it easy to hang ornaments. The medium length soft needles are generally twisted upward so that the lower surface of branches are exposed. The Shasta Fir tree has little scent and with color ranging from deep green to a blue-green, its is another excellent choice for the holidays.

Norway Spruce

This native to northern Scandinavia has become a valuable naturalized member of our forests and is extensively planted as an ornamental. The Norway Spruce has short, dark green needles and strong branches. It has an open branch pattern and a layered look, making it a popular Christmas Tree choice. It has good needle retention and keeps well.
